An exploration of a mythical mountain

Description:
If you are looking for a quick introduction to inland Crete, Mount Juktas – just outside Heraklion, is the perfect destination. We will start our tour driving to the top of the mountain (800m), where we will visit the chapel of Afentis Christos. During Minoan times, this spot was a peak sanctuary. The peak is a perfect vantage point with almost 360 views. After taking time to enjoy the view, we head to the picturesque village of Archanes for a coffee stop and a leisurely stroll around the village. We then head to the foothills of Juktas, where we will enjoy a relaxed hike, collecting local wild herbs along our way. Under the shade of a pine forest, we will then make herbal preparations that you can take home with you. We say goodbye in the afternoon, leaving behind the mythical mountain where Zeus was buried.
