A journey into the past and present of the Amari Valley
Description:
The Amari valley, located in central Crete, is an area of unspoiled nature, monuments and villages, where visitors can experience an authentic, diverse landscape shaped by the surrounding mountains of Psiloritis and Kedros. On this tour, we visit historic monuments, such as the Arkadi monastery, several Byzantine churches dating back several centuries ago, and an archaeological site from Minoan times. We visit a couple of quiet, picturesque mountain villages, where we also sit for a cosy, relaxed lunch. Expect our table to be packed with authentic, hearty Cretan plates. We walk through the stunning gorge of Patsos and among some ancient olive trees, some of which are over 2,000 years old! At the end of the day, we head back home full of mental images of the real Crete.
