A culinary tour of the heritage of olive oil production

Crete has been producing olive oil for centuries. On this tour, you have the chance to learn about ancient and modern olive oil uses and practices. We start the tour driving to the village of Kato Horió, near Ierapetra. There, we meet with a co-operative of local producers aiming at keeping old olive oil production practices alive. We visit one of their olive groves, where we will learn more about their practices and how they maintain ancient olive trees. We then take a leisurely stroll, collect herbs from the grove and head to the co-op’s workshop space for an olive oil workshop for all the senses. Then, we have an oil tasting session and a very special lunch in a cosy setting. After some relaxed time in the village, we head home.
